‘Avolon Global Studio Award’ Shortlisted at 2019 Allianz Business to Arts Awards

Avolon also recognised in the Judges’ Special Recognition Award for its work in the community

Dublin | 15 July 2019: Avolon, the international aircraft leasing company, and the Royal Hibernian Academy (‘RHA’), have been shortlisted for the Best Long Term Partnership category at the 2019 Allianz Business to Arts Awards for the ‘Avolon Global Studio Award’. Avolon has also been recognised in the Judges’ Special Recognition Award for Portfolio of Investment category for the ‘Avolon Global Studio Award’ and ‘Youthreach Art Programme’ at RHA; and its partnerships with Abbey Theatre and Druid Theatre.

Since its formation, Avolon has been a long-standing supporter of the Arts. The partnership with the RHA includes the ‘Avolon Global Studio Award’, a unique programme that sees artists from around the world come to Dublin to work in a RHA studio for three months. Avolon extended its partnership with Royal Hibernian Academy to create the ‘Youthreach programme’, which is a custom workshop designed to inspire creativity among early school leavers in Ireland. The programme has been successful in enabling the RHA to identify and nurture artistic talent and to encourage the students to consider further education within the arts.

In 2018, Avolon was instrumental in bringing the Tony Award winning musical ‘Come From Away’ to the Abbey Theatre for a winter season. Avolon also partnered with the internationally renowned Druid to bring Waiting for Godot to New York’s Lincoln Center in 2018.

The 28th Allianz Business to Arts Awards saw nominations from a diverse range of partnerships and events, spread across Ireland. To be shortlisted for this category is a tremendous achievement. Winners will be announced on the evening of Tuesday 3rd September in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.
